all my snails are accounted for...so its not them...
but i did have some ghost shrimp that have since gone missing....could this be causing my water to smell?
and its not a horrible smell..just a slight sulpher (best way to describe it) smell.
i have tiger barbs and zebra danios' and one molly in the tank....possible could have eaten the ghost shrimp?
thanks all

What are your water parameters? It could be the missing ghost shrimp

It can also be a bacterial bloom. Like chrisk said do a water test and I advise a large water change after the test.

When you say "Sulpher" smell, my first thought is: Do you use prime water conditioner? It has a way of producing that smell.

Decay of organic matter, number one source is decay of protein rich aquatic inhabitants.

well...water test is ammonia 0 nitrite probably .1? between 0 and .25 (it went up a tad when i added 8 snails and 6 barbs)...nitrate .5
i use amquell+ water conditioner..that has a STRONG sulpher smell..but the bottle says it goes away in water...maybe thats just it?
ive never had invertebrates before...do they just add a small smell?

I use amquel plus and yes, there is a strong odor out of the bottle. I never noticed the smell after added to the tank. I think the problem is with you carbon, it's telling you that it need to be replaced.

Poke the substrate with a stick and see if there are sulphur dioxide bubbles that come out.
