Manual removal of this has been unsuccessful. I was thinking of a bleach dip (1:20)...how will an amazon sword respond to this? Because they are heavy root feeders should i avoid getting the mixture on the root?

Ideally its better to cut off the infected leaves which have BBA, new leaves will emerge.
I feel a bleach dip might harm the plant, works with plants like Anubias, Ferns with thick leaves and that too a quick 30 Sec Bleach dip. You could try with probably one of the plants and based on that do for the rest.

You can spot treat the bba in the tank with a dropper. It's safe to put at least 2mm of peroxide per gallon into the water. Or if you remove the plant you can soak it in a peroxide solution, as you would with Excell. Bleach would be more effective if you go that route but also more prone to harm the plant.
Does H2O2 grow plants however?Does it correct the issue that started BBa in the first place, eg , the root cause?
Nope.
Excel does.
Cost more, but does more.
Algae prevention is more about growing the plants well than merely killing algae with chemicals..........
BBA is a CO2 issue, not a lack of H2O2, put another way.
