Evening all, I left my tank this morning showing signs of diatom algae, I'm 3 almost 4 weeks in and returned home today to find it had gone mad!
red hair algae all over the substrate, some of it almost an inch long in places!!
Will this sort itself out if I get a cleanup crew? (Ihave 1 snail and 1 hermit crab but they are only tiny and would not deal with this lot lol! Or should I syphon it out, blow it off the rocks and put in some ro water to replace what had come out? My parameters are A ok!

man i gotta tell you i am on the back end of dealing with an algae problem and i tried EVERYTHING to get rid of it on its own, but it didn't get better until i completely did a spring cleaning on the tank...i washed every peice of equipment, moved every rock, and vaccumed out the top layer of the sandbed. it's been a few days now and i havent seen any signs of it coming back yet(knock on wood). Look for the thread entitled DIATOMS! in the general marine/newbie forum...(other people put a link to it, but i don't know how to do that) There's some good information in there.
