just recently my tank has started to become covered in green algae and my otos arent able to take care of it. before the green algae i had brown algae and my otos took care of that fast.
so i would like to no how to prevent green algae and fish or snails that eat it.

feed less, change water more frequently and in higher volume, keep your lights on less.

Algae needs nutrients, and light. If you get rid of these, it will die.

What Hebliy said... the brown algae was more than likely diatoms, which isn't really algae... it will resolve on its own (mine just left the building yesterday). With regard to the green algae you can do all of the above. I was begining to see some starting to grow so i did a three day black out and fast. It worked pretty good to slow the progression. Since then I haven't had a problem (but I think my plants eat most of what the algae would need anyway... so it kinda starves). Good luck.
