trapdoor snails

hi, i have read here that the snails i placed in my pond are live bearing and that my koi like to eat these little ones. question is will these offspring hide in spawning mats or submerged plants like the baby koi will? if not, i can hardly find the adult snails in the pond let alone small ones to remove them to a protected place. any suggestions?

Are your trapdoor snails actually Viviparus malleatus or any species under the genus, Viviparus? If so, these are indeed livebearers. They are coldwater species indeed just like the koi. I doubt your koi will easily trace the young trapdoor snails so I believe your snails will be fine.
