Wow, my red terror pair had their first spawn today. The female deposited her eggs all over the inside of a hollowed-out log I put in the tank about a month ago. She is inside the log guarding the eggs and the male is patrolling the log to make sure no one gets too close.

The tank is a war zone. The other red terrors in the tank are getting pretty beat up. I have already placed an ad to sell them.

So I have a quick question about the eggs. They look white. Is that normal? Is there any way to determine if they have been fertilized?

White eggs are most likely infertile, but don't worry, they'll most likely spawn again in a couple weeks. Then again, and again... Sooner or later they'll get it right, and you'll have hundreds of fry to sort out.

Yeah, I kinda thought that the eggs might not have been fertilized. I didn't know that they'd spawn every couple of weeks, though. Not a bad thing, I just didn't realize it was that frequent.

The words "red terror" and "spawning" make me think demons are procreating in your tank, G'luck with the pair.

Heh well that's a pretty good analogy. The male has completely lost his mind and god help any tankmate who dares to go near the log. I hope I can sell the remaining fish before they are systematically destroyed.
