I've searched and still have not found a good idea for keeping my plastic plants in the gravel. My clowns and plecos have ways of bringing them up and out of the gravel and I'm really getting tired of placing them back in the gravel every few days. I was thinking of tying them down to some kind of plastic grid about 3"x3" and seeing if that might work. Any other suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

u can glue them to rocks or tie them to fishing weights. u can also do like u said with some egg crate under the substrate and tie them with fishing line. i dont mind mine being pulled up because i would have to pull them up to do a good gravel vac where they are anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions and I do not mind placing them for gravel cleaning it's just ever couple days it's really bugging me that they wont stay in the gravel. I think now that the plecs and clowns are growing they have much more force in their movements and they unintentionally knock them out of the gravel. I think I will take some of your advice and tie one onto my drift wood. the other three I will have to think up something along a tie down anchor something. Thanks again!

if they have the base like a cup you can fill it with plaster once that drys it will add some weight... other wise i dont think you have a deep enough substrate

I use Tetra Water Wonder silk plants that have a weighted base, or you can attach them to their artificial rocks and driftwood that have interchangable base mounts. It works pretty well!

Glue them to a rock and bury the rock.

There are also little metal strips that are used to weight down or "tie" together live stem plants. You could wrap them around the base of the fake plant for some weight. I think I've seen them on Aquabid in the past. I'm not sure what they are actually called. But, they are safe to use with fish. Using fishing sinkers may pose a problem if they are not fish safe.

i take the bases off my 'stemmy' fake plants and use large suction cups to adhere them to the bottom or side of the tank. they don't come loose during gravel vacs and the fish have trouble uprooting them (and i have a juvi oscar in the tank, lol).

just have to make sure the stem of the plant fits snugly in the hole of the suction cup.

I would silicone them to a rock or something hard.

Just get a bunch of aquarium gravel, silicon it in a size and shape you want and stick the plant in there. That will hold it in place and keep it from floating for you.
