I just finished a water change on my 55 and moving some plants around well just as I was finishing I saw what I thought was a chunk of snail jello... it wasn't! It is either a partial clutch of Brigs eggs or a broken off batch of Briggs eggs ( I couldn't find any thing else) or maybe just a small clutch (my first ever).

I have been waiting for eggs and called myself looking this time too but I didn't see any before I started or I'd have been more careful. I am not sure how long they were submerged but at least a few minutes while I emptied the 20% water and jacked around with the plants.

I fished them out the clutch is still firm. If they were under water for 5 minutes are they still viable?

My Brigs are gettin' busy all the time so I know there will be more I just feel like a horrible snail parent.

Do you think I should use the hatching strategy from the sticky anyway and see if any make it or is this batch a lost cause?

I have had this problem a couple times, i think the walls of my aquarium were too damp, causing them not to adhear to the side of the tank. I think the hatchery route is the best way to go.

I put them in a vented baggie in a warm moist spot and I will keep my fingers crossed. I looked again and I still don't see anymore eggs so it must just be a small batch. I have seen several pairs "attached" cruising around the tank for a long time so I no there will be more. ( 2 Chestnuts and a DSP/Ivory)
When I did this water change I left the level about 4 inches from the top just in case the moisture thing is the cause of the falling eggs and not me bumbling about with the syphon.

out of the nine or so clutches laid lately in my tank, i've noticed at least half are laid up behind the outputs of my hob filters, where it is always a bit damp. they say that a snail will find the place they think is best for their progeny to survive, so i leave them there. in fact, any clutches that are not laid in those exact spots are usually quite dry by the next day and so i freeze and toos those ones.
