Java Fern Question

Started getting 'babies' on some of my java fern leaves. Does this mean that the main plant is done growing? Asking this because I have not gotten any new leaves on the main body of the "rhisome"(?) and don't have any experience with javas except for the past few months. Thanks to all who view and those who answer.:help:

That happens with mine. They proliferate for a while and then the mother plants seem to go dormant. Over time they start to blacken and die off.

I detach the babies and plant them. I've noticed that the main plant seems to not have any new growth on it. I hope it's not dying.

Thanks for the replies and info. Yeah I am gonna pull the sprouts just didn't know at what point to do it. Probably leave them on for some time, but I am noticing some black areas on the big leaves. Too bad, oh well at least they sprouted replacements. Thanks again.
