Mini Cycle Question

I recently added 4 new fish to my tank and I'm now going through a mini cycle, with ammonia showing up very slightly in tests. I'm doing a 50% WC every other day to keep up, but that gets old real quick in a 72g tank. I was wondering if anyone knows from their experiences approximately how long it would take the existing bacterial colony to grow and meet the new bio-load. Thanks.

Pretty quickly as the colony will grow exponentially.

I would say a couple of days

frankly im surprised that 5 fish even caused that in a tank that size

also.. invest in a python-- makes water changes soooo easy

Shouldn't take long, depending on what kind of fish you added...is your sig updated? As 7 said above if what is in there is in your sig, does seem a bit odd.

OK Thanks. I do have a python, but who wouldn't get tired of doing WC's every other day! Sig updated I think!
