I have a really pretty Madagascar growing in my 90 gal tank. Everything I have read says that it's a hard plant to grow. Mine is and has been doing great.
I has flowered. Now do I just let the flower die or cut it off or what?
Also read where you have to let them go dormant for a while. How do I do this? Or will it die back naturally in the tank and then regrow?
Here is the flower, very pretty!

Wow pretty flower! I have very limited experience with 1. It lost its leaves & I left it in the tank & after a 6-8 week rest in the 78*F tank, threw up some small leaves, then stopped. I was tearing down its tank & saw the bulb had a hollowed out husk with a smaller hard bulb inside. I gently removed the husk & a small amount of rotted looking fibers. since then it has 1 new leaf.
I have read, as you probably have, that they need 2 months cool water rest during dormancy but also that the temp is not important. I was afraid I'd forget it in the basement so I went for the leave it alone option. Ii would help if I was better at fertilizing, it would benefit from some now as it wakes up. Thanks for the reminder.
Mine had a white flower I think but was in less than great lighting so yours may be a different species. Good luck

I have a rare species melon sword called 'midi fleur'. Currently mine is also sending out flower spikes but they grow out to be babies. Lol
haha. Mystery solved in our house. One of these showed up in our tank this week. But it is white. Thought it was probably a flower so i let it grow where it wanted, hasn't bloomed like yours though. Really looking forward to seeing bloom. Lovely picture btw.
