I have a female bosemanii that is getting smaller and smaller. She has some trouble swimming in the current and seems to swagger more back and forth when swimming. When I feed, she gets all excited as if she wants to eat and seems to blindly charge for food, but doesn't get anything, as if she can't quite find it.
She has no visible injuries (all fins are fine), is not being bullied. Gills are fine, poop is fine.
Parameters are good, everyone else is doing great. WC are every 3 days with gravel vac.

bump.. should I move her to hospital or would that stress her out more?

How long have you had her? New additions to the tanks?

Sounds like her vision is off. I have albino discus that don't have the greatest of vision. Unless someone comes up with another valid reason for her not finding the food, I'd leave her be.

I've had her for about 3 months, nothing new for last couple months. I'm thinking vision problems might be a possibility, her eyes look ok though. Can I test her vision somehow?

This has been going on for the last couple weeks, before that she was eating fine.

I'm just not sure how to get her to eat enough, I also see she looks like she has a hunchback.

with the spine abnormalities and the wasting away, I am beginning to think it might be TB. I don't know whether it is worth it to isolate her and try treatment with kanamycin or not.

As far as I know, there is no cure for fish TB, and it's contagious and deadly to all tank inhabitants once it's in the tank.

If it is TB, it can be dangerous to you, as well. Wear gloves while working in your tank.

Just wanted to give you an update... I put her in the hospital and she ate some bloodworms. I am going to try to fatten her up and give some antibiotics. I don't know if it is TB, but if it is then I'm not going to euthanize eveyone because obviously there is some variation in bacteria virulence and each fish's immunity.

Thanks for the word of caution, I think if you don't have any cuts on your hands and wash thoroughly then you should be fine. It is hard to find gloves that don't let in any water anyhow.

:( She stopped eating and was wasting away so I had to put her down today. I'm still not sure what it was, everyone else is just fine for now.
