I added some petco fish pebbles (just an extra 5lbs) so i could plant like a 9 inch plant and i rinsed the pebbles and plant but i couldnt get all the like after i poured it in the shrimp went crazy afterwards. Actually i have 4 ghost shrimp but only the two 1inch ones went swimming in circles the little ones just hid under things
is this a problem? would the little leftover tapwater on the pebbles cause that much of a problem because i remember reading somewhere about fish swimming and jumping because of water problems

Dunno- it's possible... I've noticed all my aquarium inhabitants, even snails and shrimp seem to be very curious when anything is moved or repositioned and will go over to investigate.

Were the shrimp acting stressed- or perhaps confused and curious?

Always remember to wash your new gravel and pebble before introducing it to your tank.

Imagine going on a walk one day then rocks the size of people start falling from the sky. Pouring pebble into tank is kind of like that for the inhabitants of your tank. Use a small container or Tupperware to slowly introduce the gravel, this will cause less stress for your shrimp and also make sure that none will be buried by a landslide of gravel.

If my shrimps are stressed, i usually dim my lights a bit and put in a few food pellets. when they start eating that is usually my indication of they are doing better.

Ditto what arcanecircle said. I try to lower the water level and use a cup to gently pour in any new substrate into an established tank. That helps so that it's not quite so shocking.
