You might want to contact THE COMPANY (http://www.current-usa.com/aquapods.html) and get the information directly from them. IMO this would be the best way to confirm your question.

From their web site:
"The AquaPod offers all-in-one elegance with a new standard of performance. The modern style compliments and decor and features seamless front rounded glass corners for optimum viewing."
They are glass, but I am not sure if they are tempered glass. Are you thinking of adding a sump or something? i took the hood off of mine and I am now thinking of adding a refugium type thing when I find a suitable stand (I hate the aquapod stands... they are cheap POS... was the biggest wast of $125).

Look at the glass with polarised sun glasses on in good day light...If its tempered, you will see a grey dotty pattern all over the glass...

I think the heating of the glass to make the bends would tell you that it's tempered. Heating is how they temper glass, from what I understand.

i don't trust siphon systems at all! i did some research and found a few that were drilled in the back. i really want to go through the bottom i may just try it if it breaks i am only out 50 bucks.
