Last night I did my usual partial water change. I added a couple new decorations and moved some things around. Tonight I could not find my brichardi. I moved some of the decorations around and I found it. At first I thought it was ok, but on closer inspection he looks strange. It looks like part of his mouth is sunk in, almost like he is emaciated? I looked at my books and nothing I read sounds like what it looks like. My water is in good shape, and the fish doesn't seem sick, just not quite right. He is breathing a little faster then usual but I don't see any fin damage or any wounds. I added some stress coat. I also add aquarium salt when I do water changes. The temp on the tank is about 78. I have had this fish since Feb, and I have not added any new fish. Can anyone help me with this?

Well the fish made it through the night, and still seems to be moving around good. Just looks weird. And where his nostrils (?) are it looks like its dented in. If you weren't familiar with the fish you may not notice, I just wish I knew what was going on. Could someone please help me out here? I am gonna try to post a pic after while. Thanks Dawn:shake:

Can anyone tell me how to make a pic smaller? My pic is 52.4 bytes but it won't let me submit it. I have a mini dv camera. Help!
I have no idea about your fish but you can take you picture into photo shop pro, paintshop pro, or just paint and make the picture smaller like drag it inwards a bit. and save it as .jpg.

To post a picture you have to put it online first. Then hit the IMG button above and type in the address where the picure is found and it will put the picture on your post.
As for what is wrong with your fish. Do you have big gravel? My fish sometimes gets something weird going on with his mouth. Like it looks swollen or sometimes slightly dented in some way. I think it's b/c I have big gravel and he would put these big chunks in it's mouth when he made a cave or hole. Also maybe he hit it on a decoration like if he was biting it or something. Do you have other fish? And do they bother this fish? Does your fish seem sick and not feeling well, or does he just have the dent?

No he doesn't look sick he just looks like he has had a Michael Jackson nose job:( He still acts the same and he eats fine. I am still working on the pic..... more soon. Oh, did you treat your fish with anything? Thanks!

No I didn't treat mine with anything. He his a stubborn old thing. He likes to make his own caves and holes and he gets ever so often. It just goes away by itself. Kinda like when we get a bruise wrestling or something it goes away. I'd just keep a close eye on him and make sure he doesn't get sick but it sounds like what my fish does. :)

Hello,
When you don't see any visible signs of illness or strange behavior in the fish it's hard to ascertain the nature of the problem, and I certainly don't think you would want to medicate or over-medicate the tank when everything else seems fine. Since he's eating, breathing and swimming normally I would agree with mtdewlover and just keep an eye on him for any sudden changes in his appearance or behavior. Good luck, I hope all goes well, and good luck posting the pic.
