Nope it has more to do with his genetics. I am not expert on genetics but I know colouring of bettas works in layers and the different layers are above the other so bettas in different angles and lighting conditions will show different colours sometimes. Blue and green are also very closely linked. It's amazing because I once spawned a double ray crowntail male which was mostly red in colour with little blue coming through in his fins with a blue female. The male's parents were a dr ct steel blue male and dr ct extended red female. Obviously the male's colour leaned more to the mother's ext. red. The blue female came from blue parents I presume although it was shipped from asia and i couldnt be sure, to my amazement more than 75% of the surviving spawn were green with touches of red and blue and the the rest were mostly blue with touches of red and green and some were just good old multicolours. So a combination of blues will get your greens.

It's a Betta Splenden or more commonly called a siamese fighter. What else do you have in the tank?
