I know convicts are supposed to be crazy easy to breed, but my somewhat baby convicts had their first batch of eggs this morning, and I am super excited to see the result.

Originally I bought 5 tiny baby convict fry from some woman down the street, and of those 5 only 2 survived which turned out to be a male and a female! what odds

They have now grown to about an inch and a half, if that, and laid their first batch of eggs on the inside of the flower pot roof.

They have a whole 55gal tank to themselves, cant wait to see the result!

congrats! you do know this is just the start of many many babies to come. convicts are prolific breeders and will breed at least once a month. your going to have to find some way to get rid of lots of babies! do you have larger fish to feed the fry to?

Yeah like stated by Trenie convicts breed alot and are usually impossible to get rid of the offspring. Most LFS's wont even take them back for free. Congrats on the eggs though. So what you gonna do with the survivers?

yes the goal was to be able to feed the babies to my other fish, I know my goldfish will eat the fry no problem, but I am looking into getting something a little more aggresive that is actually out to each the fry not just cuz it will fit in its mouth like the silly goldfish

my convicts breed abt 3 times in 2 months in a community tank so they all got eaten felt kinda bad.. since then they broke up( dont have anything to do with each other)... prolly for the best..cause ive been told there hard to get rid of... not to into breedin fry for the slaughter ether...nothin against it just feel bad ha
