got this lil pleco from my favourite lfs not that long ago. was sold to me as a bristlenose, but i am thinking he may be otherwise. he doesn't have any of the lil bristles showing up on his 'snout', but that might just mean he is a she, lol.

can ya help me figure out if i'm dealing with a zucchinni muncher that is gonna be 4 to 5 or 18 inches someday? lol.

i'll try but my angry lil pleco doesn't like to hold still, lol, and i'm using a crappy cellphone camera, ugh.

:eek3:Oh dear BettaFishMommy, that looks like one of the ones that gets 17 feet long! (just kidding):evil_lol:

It's not a clear picture but I can see the markings and it resembles the markings of a bristlenose. Males usually start to show tiny bristles around 9 months of age (3"-4), some females of some strains of bristlenose also show some bristles, common bristlenose do not. How big is the fish now? Any idea of it's age?

these ones any better? they're the best i can get. i'm guessing he's less than six months old and he's not even two inches long yet. i've had him for about a month or so. for reference, that's a medium size mag float he's sucking on.

good good that he's a BN, he can stay right where he is, in the planted 55. even if my lil guy did turn out to be a common or another pleco that gets large, i'd keep him, and get at least a 150 gal for him and my oscar fish dog, lol.

I agree, that's a bristlenose. Cute little guy!

that's what i was thinking, female, since the 'snout' is as smooth as a baby's bottom.

and to think, i couldn't decide between him/her and a 6 incher in another tank at the lfs. glad i picked my lil angry pleco, Gibb. (yes, i know gibbies are sailfins, but the name fits, lol)
