When my cousin gave me his 5 inch Oscar, I was desperate to get it out of the 10g that he had it in so I bought a 33g tank since that was all I had money for. Originally I was only getting the Oscar but somehow a JD joined the 10g and came along for the ride. I now understand that an Oscar needs a 55g tank or so to keep it happy. The Oscar is 8 inch long. I am saving up for a 55g tank, but I don't know how long it's going to be until I can afford the tank, filter, heater, etc.. The Oscar is getting along well with the JD right now. At the size the Oscar is right now, can it go a little longer in the 33g? The water conditions are checked regularly and everything is fine.

Since there isno fighting and water is ok. It would so for now. You may want to look to buy a used six footer around 100 gallons.

Also you cnan sell the 10 and 33 gallon to pay for the six footer. :)
