My poor tiny Sterbia that survived out of three has finally settled down and is acting like a cory. Now I see that he has a patch of white fuzz on top of his head. What do I do?:help:

Can you post a pic, Jacki? I would quarantine him, I think. I hope it's not columnaris, which I've read can look like fuzz or a cottony patch.

Does it look anything like the fuzz on the guppy at this link?

It's hard to tell, does the fuzz look like that guppy? To me, it doesn't look as pronounced if it is the same kind of fluffy fuzz. Is he in quarantine?

He is in QT now. You know how neurotic I am, I think I caught it right away.

You must have, because I can't even see it. I think I'd start him on antibiotics.
I'd treat for columnaris. I think the combo of Maracyn and Maracyn II would be good. That combination worked a miracle on my Brochis, who already had septicemia. Once infection becomes septicemia it can be deadly, and usually is, so I am a believer in regard to those two meds.

The sticky on medicines might have something more appropriate recommended. I wish one of the disease experts would see this thread.

I hope he'll be alright. You are an excellent fish mommie to catch this so quickly.

I believe it's not necessary to start on both meds unless it's severe, just the gram negative one should be fine. Besides, the frugal side of me says that both meds combined would cost more than the cory. Not to sound cruel, just being economic in these non economic times.
