Hi! Kind of new to the whole fish thing. Well, I've had guppies for about 8 months but i still consider myself new. Anyways, I started out with about 6 guppies: two males, four females. It was awesome the first time i saw the female giving birth and to see how small the fry were, and it still is, but now I have so many! i've managed to give away alot to my family and friends, but don't really know what to do. I know this is the first thing they warn you about when dealing with guppies, but I just didn't think it could get so crazy. Any ideas as to what I can do? kulling is not an option! And they all look really cool! Two different fancy offspring mixing...pretty cool.

Welcome to AC! Get rid of all females is one option and keep only males. If you don't cull, then get another tank and you can use the fry for feeders.

thanks :). what type of fish would eat they fry? I researched guppies and it said that they will eat their fry but none of mine do.

Not all guppies eat their fry. There are several strains that do not. The fancies most commonly sold usually do, but of course there are exceptions to every rule.

The malformed ones need to be culled and not allowed back into the gene pool. Culling doesn't mean killing. It means to separate from the group. It is how you decide what colors and traits you want. Once you have euthanized the sickly and deformed give the rest to your LFS.

It only takes the female one pairing to have 4 (or more) pregnancies as they "packet and store"sperm. Your chances of not having a pre-hit female are slim. You should have researched further before getting them. If you are not able to get rid of the fry you either keep them or euthanize them.

I use them as feeders for my other fish if I can't get rid of them any other way. Sounds cruel and cold but there really isn't any other way to go.
