Needs cropping to remove that awful over exposure on the right hand side. This will also emphasis the reflected animal.

sorry, but i'm actually a little insulted by that.... especialy given that the "example" was decidedly not an improvement, and, uh, after three rounds of voting against another really fabulous photograph, mine was decided the winner, even with the "awful" overexposure. the overall composition of the image was more than strong enough to compensate for the strength of the basking light.
to the rest of you, thank you so much. i'm touched to still be receiving comments at this point, seeing as we've moved on in the year's competitions. and yes, i love that little turtle, too ^_^
