Hey,

I have some cable ties that I need to cut in my aquarium. Normally I would just use some wire cutters, but these all have grease on them which I don't feel very comfortable putting in my aquarium. How should I cut them? They're too heavy duty to cut with scissors.

I tied some artificial plants to my filter intake, which looks nice.
Regretably I chose this artifcial plant with the most coverage to hide the intake which worked well, but this is also perfect for catching pellets that want to drift downward.

Maybe instead of removing the plant you could find something to help place some pellets on the bottom, such as one of those spring loaded retractable claw grabby thingamajobbers.

I really need to remove the plant. It's a constant debris trap.

Some handy household items that may work for you:

fingernail clippers,
razor blade (carefully),
two screwdrivers if you can fit them in (then pry apart until it snaps),
loose hacksaw blade,
steak knife (clean)

You could always go with the all natural approach . . .

1. Wrap some snail meat around the cable tie.
2. Add a fw puffer fish to your tank. :D

Thanks, those are good ideas, I like the toenail clippers especially.
