All of my tanks are longs except the one that I bought recently and it is a 55 tall bowed on both front and back. what should I use for filtration? How do you get enough circulation in a tank like that?

I have a couple of Marineland HOB filters that have long intake tubes with both upper and lower intakes, one at the bottom and one at the middle of the shaft. They are working for me so far.

You can always use a good canister for overall, and add powerheads to get any dead areas.

About half of my tanks are talls. I've used different solutions on different tanks. Power filters with extra extensions on the uptake tubes so they can reach to the bottom. Canister or box filters. One tank has a powerfilter that has it's uptake tube connected to the undergravel filter's uprights. It seems to work quite well. Another tank has an undergravel filter with a powerhead mounted on it's upright that extends all the way to the top of the tank, plus I've stuffed carbon-coated matt into the uprights to provide chemical cleaning at the same time. Just dont pack it TOO densely or water flow will suffer. There's many possibility only limited by one's creativity and mixing/matching equipments and use of extra parts or universal tubes.
