Over the past week i have had the worst luck with my tanks.. My little 5 gallon tanks heater did not shut off last saturday night and fried my 2 little buddies in there...
Now i come home from work today and am looking at my 37 gallon tank and i couldn't find the severum... looked all around and he was nowhere to be found... Then i looked at the castle in the middle of my tank

He was stuck on the little tower in the middle like he was trying to swim up it... he was just jammed up there... so i get him out.. he is still alive but barely... swimming sideways at times and then stops for a while... Is it possible for this fish to survive? Is there anything i can do for him?

He's probably a little shaken up is all...unless he was sick to begin with and went in there to die or something. Hard to really say. How was he acting before this?
That's a nice, clean looking tank, btw...nice job.

he has always been the most active fish... It is funny to say this but he accually plays with my cats... My cat will sit on the chair next to the tank and the sevurum will swim over to that side and swim up and down side to side as my cat follows him... He is always the first to eat and swim to the front of the tank when you walk up to it... so this was out of the blue... hopefully he will be ok.. he tries to swim a little now then stops and sits around for a few minutes... doing this over and over...

Well, if he was healthy to begin with, then I'm sure he'll be fine. Sounds like he might have just worn himself out trying to get out of there and is a little stressed from the whole ordeal.

I know this isn't the same... but in my old 10 gallon tank my family had when i was little we had a couple cory cats, and some of those fake cabomba plants. Well, one day i came home horrified to see that one of the catfish had swam straight down into the middle of the plant, gotten caught in the stiff plastic, and died! poor little guy! Probebly happend because you know how cories sometimes shoot up to the surface and back down again really quickly.... well he wedged himself right into the fake plant! :sad
i stopped using fake plants alltogether right then and there. :(

Well he finally died this morning... He has red spots all over him.. :(
Wow, sorry to hear that. You try and create a safe environment and sometimes crazy things just happen.

I would think that getting caught in an aquarium ornament has the potential to really injure a fish, depending on how much damage they receive from it and how long they are trapped. The stress could make them more susceptible to disease as well. Most likely there wasn't anything you could do for him, sorry to hear about your loss.

Sorry to hear, I was hoping he'd pull through. Red spots sound like hemorraging of the skin...he must have been hurt much worse than I thought.

Ya.. at first i had some hope cuz he was half way moving around.. later in the evening he stopped moving and was just laying at the bottom of the tank so i knew he was close to dying.... I was worrid the angles were going attack him but they left him alone...
