hello gang,
question my tank has been cycling for about 3 and a half weeks my ammonia peaked and dropped in about 3 days since then my nitrite has been at peak for about 3 weeks and nitrate have been about 10ppm for a week. I would have thought that it would have dropped by now. I was wondering would adding more source of ammonia speed to nitrite phase up.

No. Don't add more ammonia sources. You just need to wait. The bacteria that convert nitrIte to NitrAte can take a little longer to develop. If you are showing nitrItes you have enough ammonia present.

I would agree wit Jena as long as your doing water changes it should be fine. If your not doing a waterchange then thats your problem. Just cuz U got no fish doesnt mean you dont need to change water. Just takes time youll have a cycled tank soon enough:thumbsup:

If you do not have fish in there, then no-don't do water changes. If you're cycling with fish then obviously-yes, you'll have to do water changes. Probably daily. The nitrite part of the cycle drags on forever.

Is this a fish or fish-less cycle?
