Can you keep RCS in a 3 gallon tank? The tank is going to be planted. If so how many could I have? I already have a male betta in there. I will make sure that theres plenty of hiding spots for the RCS.
Thanks!

It's probably not a good idea to keep RCS in the same tank with a betta. Bettas are predatory fish, and will seek out and eat all the shrimp they can find. Unless the whole bottom of the tank is planted and you have tons of places for them to hide, but maybe not even then.

General rule of thumb is about 10 RCS per gallon, but considering they multiply, I would put a max of 10 in there. With bettas it is hit or miss. It depends on your betta. You may be buying snacks for him. I have my betta with shrimp and am sure he catches some of the babies as I have seen him try. The population of shrimp is still growing so I know he doesn't catch them all. The bottom of my tank is a bed of java moss so the shrimp can get below it when he is on the hunt.

I have another 3 gallon betta tank. Its not planted. I just have a fake plant in there and I have 12 ghost shrimp with him. He is the more aggresive one of the two and I haven't had a problem with him going after the shrimp.

Thanks :) I think I'm going to try it. I'm only going to get like 10 to 15 though, just in case. If I notice that they start disappearing, I will put them into the other betta tank or their own.

I have seven RCS in my little desktop 2.5 Mini Bow, and I love them. I don't have any fish in it though.

I would be VERY worried abtou the betta that is one fish that will def eat your RCS. the ghost are way bigger than a adult chery . I would put the cherrys in thier own tank atleast until you get enough to spare ' a few to try them with the betta ... some people can keep them , but my rule is NO bettas, guppy or endlers with my shrimp,. corys, BN plecos , and other fish (small) seem to be fine . wish you luck with whatever you decide. you never know . your betta just might not care' ... LOL
