I am doing a science fair project on the sensitivity of touch-and-trap 'hairs' that can be found on venus fly traps and prehistoric monster fish. I have always wanted one anyway so I would like to know where to buy/order them. I live in Calgary so a site that can ship to Canada would be nice. Thanks for all your help.

Most of the prehistoric type fish I know get to big for the tanks you have in you signature. They all tend to get really big. Are you planning on getting a bigger aquarium for this fish?

I think the OP's speaking specifically about Thalassophryne amazonica, which sometimes goes by the common name of "Prehistoric monster fish".

I don't blame you Ger, "Prehistoric monster fish" doesn't exactly sound like the common name of a fish.

I am planning on a 49 gallon aquarium for it. There is no way I would stick it in my 25 gallon aquarium. I have done all the research on keeping the fish so I know what I am doing, however getting the fish is a problem. Some say Big Al's sometimes has them so I am going there this weekend to see. The only other place I found is this corporation out of Columbia run buy Mr. Jimmy Menzero (not kidding) and I don't think I trust that company much.

a few of my LFS in the chicago area market these as a "cow-fish", and i've seen them called "calf fish". i guess thats a nickname for this fish because of how much they eat. might be worth a try to search for that and see what you can find. good luck. :D
