Update- I got the tank running fairly good now. I'll probably be adding another Canister Filter in a few months, but for now the filteration is good enough. Still haven't added any of the driftwood that I collected yet. Building a hood is next on my list.

hats off to you chef keith, I too plan to bild my own tank when I get a job but instad of acrylic I'm going to use glass. It's cheaper but not as clear also its more fit for clumsy people like me that are scrath prone toward everything.
