Well, I've had an aquarium since I was 16 (49 now) with the exception of the college years. I've gone from funky gravels to a heavily planted setup . .. man I loved my indoor garden! I started as an apisto addict which went for almost 25 of those years to a pleco (BN specifically) fanatic in these past few. I have spent thousands of dollars and don't regret one penny . .. well there were a few purchases in there I wish I could take back. The thing I enjoyed most was making hardscape pieces out of bogwood and getting plants to cover them in an attempt to achieve a natural/organic looking aquascape. Nothing is more therapuetic than spending 40mins just gazing at my tank after a water change, wishing I could shrink myself down and go for a swim, once I'd gotten the brush algae in check!
I enjoyed modifing everything, I'd even taken heavy grit sand paper to the inside surface of the tank back to rough it up so that java moss could get a grip on it, it covered about 30% of the surface in a wall of moss.
Setup; 40g Acrylic, 2x65w CFs, XP2, Pressurized CO2, lite schooling fish load with a colony of CRS, several BN's and a green Pea puffer to help keep the CRS population in check.
I still have a couple of the BN's and dozens of CRSalong with all of the hardscape pieces so if your in the Seattle give me a PM to discuss.
I do see maybe startin up again after my daughter heads off to college . .. thats why I'm keeping the CO2 tank and regulator . . yikes already fantasizing about a 70g!!

Nice looks on that tank. Pic #5 is really nice. Hope that you find the inspiration to start another tank again sometime!

Sorry to hear that you're taking a break from the hobby. You really do have a gorgeous setup. Love that garra flavatra!!
