i have 2 full size, and 2 that are like the size of a quarter, and so far, i have observed no schoolin at all?

Schooling fish prefer to be with similar sized fish. It's an instinctive thing--being a group of fish all the same size increases the individual fishes odds of surviving a predatory attack. Once the small fish catch up in size, they should school together.
