When will the crays be available?
I have some that were born 2 weeks ago (approx. 6-10). So hopefully in about 3 weeks? I'm not sure on the growth rate. How many were you looking to get? I have a female that became berried last week (it'll take 30 days to hatch). Hopefully more of them will survive the cannibalism.

Will do. I've got 3 different pairs in 3 separate tanks, so hopefully they'll act like rabbits. :hearts:

What species are blue/black shrimp, and does blue/black mean that there are some that are blue and some that are black, or are they just named blue/black shrimp? I ask these questions because I am looking for another shrimp species that I can keep with my Red Cherry Shrimp without them cross breeding and within the same type of parameters. I think I saw somewhere that I could keep green shrimp with them, but I cannot find where I saw that before.

Add me to the Dwarf Cajun Crayfish list please!!!!!!!
(I'm also fine with it being several weeks away because it's too hot to ship here at the moment anyway... hopefully when they're available we'll be having a cool spell... I can hope anyway)

They are Blue/Black mystery shrimp. Ours tend to lean more on the black side with males being almost clear like male cherry shrimp. We keep some in with Cherry shrimp, but they haven't been there long enough to tell if they cross breed or not. They were ordered from msjinkzd (http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/member.php?u=66215). We don't know the specific species. They accept the same parameters as Cherries do and are the same size.

Just hatched 70-80 baby brigs. I expect some Blue and Chestnut colors. There's a possibility of others too. It'll be at least 2 months for these to get larger before I can ship them.

At the moment I can't sex them. They're too young. However, if you wanted some, depending on how many you want, I could grow some out for you and sex them once they're old enough.

What would you consider a minimum tank size for a pair of the dwarf crays? None of my tanks are over 5g but they are all well planted, with rocks and driftwood.

I keep 6-7 in a 10 gallon. Those size tanks shouldn't be a problem as long as they each have a place to hide. They don't hang out together unless they're mating and even then, it's only to mate and then they go their separate ways.

Pending cray transaction...
Question:
How well do I need to escape-proof my tank... it's pretty escape proof at the moment except for a tiny area around my filter.
I know Crayfish in general are escape artists- do Dwarf Crays follow this same mould-and will I need to completely plug up any small hole?
jamesstill84
07-23-2009, 11:12 AM
I've never had a problem with this and I have them in 3 different tanks. None of them have tops on them. They like to climb on rocks and such, but I've never seen one try to escape. 2 of the tanks they're in have HOB filters with long tubes and prefilter sponges, but they've never once climbed on one.

Awesome! Glad you like them. I usually have to have a flashlight to find the babies...lol. Their little eyes reflect light and it allows me to distinguish between Cherry Shrimp babies and crays. :) They're awesome little critters.

I don't have hundreds, lol. I could send you 20 or 30 if that's all your looking for. Guess they need to start breeding faster. :)
I have a ten inch fakahu puffer that eats snails like crazy. I will take thirty ramshorn snails if you have them. I've never used this sight before, how do I pay you?

Can you work with me on the shipping prices for the pest snails? Would you be willing to ship them via first class mail or if I buy so many of them ship them free? I have both loaches and puffers so I need them lol.
Thanks!
