New "Project"...

After my most recent encounter with an outrageous craigslist ad, I have decided to create an (unofficial as of now) organization. The name is kind of a copy of the SPCA, but that's ok (lol). It's called the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Aquatic Species, or the SPCAS (Aquatic Species includes fish, turtles, axolotls, etc.). Our organization helps to rescues fish, turtles, and other aquatic species and find knowledgeable, loving owners who can take good care of them. We are also aimed at providing accurate information for new and future pet owners to avoid repeated mistakes. (those last few lines were copied directly from the website which is currently a work-in-progress.) I already have a few people I know who have joined the organization, if anyone else wants to join that would be nice, too :) ALSO, we need people to write some species profiles, I'll make a list of the fish we have done and continue to update it if anyone is interested in doing that. We currently have (in progress or made):

African Butterfly Fish
Betta (possibly)
Goldfish
Neon Tetra

So if anyone has previously written works they would like to contribute that would be great. We're also getting set up with a fund for this so that we can provide food and care for the critters (and other things, of course, like paying adoption fees, etc.). I have a few pictures that you all can use as avatars or put on blogs or anything that I have attached. So... yep that's it! Thanks if you use the avatars and let me know if you'd like to contribute some writing as well!

I applaud your efforts, though my resources to help out are limited as of right now.

You may want to talk to Kyryah(sp?) as she runs a turtle rescue.

You know what would be cool, if this works, you should have like an adoption place over on AC. That would be a way to help out and find homes for some.

Ok, so I'm working on the FAQ page... does anyone have any suggestions of questions to put on there?? I already have "Is it ok to keep a goldfish in a bowl?" and "Is the "inch per gallon" rule accurate for stocking aquariums?" but i need a few more. Also if there are any volunteers who would like to contribute articles that would be nice as well ;)

Stuff on cycling...how fish do not grow to the size of their tank...things we take as common knowledge but the average person would not.
