My magenta briggs had a major growth spurt do to raisng the tank temp while trying to cure ich. She is now ping pong ball sized and layed a clutch of eggs ion my tank hood. There are no guy snails so I am assuming these are infertile. Is this common? I got her as a dime sized baby from Rachel.

Has she been mated before?

No because I got her as a small baby from Rachel on this board. I only have 1 Briggs snail and 1 nerite snail.

Ahh..That explains it. They need a male to be able to reproduce fertile eggs but considering the market is now saturated with too many diffusas, it would be difficult to rehome the extras unless you want to give them away for free. You could always sell the extras to those who keep puffers and loaches but I hated the thought of apple snails eaten.:lipssealedsmilie:

Unless she was kept with a male brigg before she was given to you and they had a chance to mate odds are your clutch is infertile. I got my golden apple when she was a little larger than a dime and when she started to lay clutches I freaked out. Lucky for me they were infertile. Now I'm breeding her with a male and selling the babies to my local fish store. If you were worried about a population explosion, I'd say you are probably in the clear.
