I have tried the syring trick worked on two of the aiptasia the other ones split up into babies because I guess I missed some skin particles.. I was considering trying some berghia nudibranchs though sadly I hear once the aiptasia is gone they starve to death.. I have some tiny ones in my tank but nothing big enough to really eat all the aiptasia outbreak.. Anyone know alternative foods for them so once the aiptasia is gone they don't starve to death... I was considering getting them and returning once the aip is gone but my 2 LFS dosnt give refund or take returns for anything marine.. What can I do?
 
I use peppermint shrimp (good only for aiptasia up to a certain size -- they won't touch large aiptasia) and kalk paste. I use the kalk paste to litterally cement in the aiptasia, completely covering it and the area where it is attached to the rock. If you have a lot of them, a little caution is required, as using too much kalk paste at one time can effect the tank's water chemistry.
 
i got a peppermint shrimp and it doesnt seem to have done anything too mine so i have used joes juice and aiptasia-X but none off them have worked?
but i enjoy watching the peppermint shrimp anyway :)
 
I'd go with peppermint shrimp. They're inexpensive and won't starve to death once the aiptasia is gone.
 
also make sure it is a true peppermint when you buy it ulike me who bought mine and it hasnt dealt with the aips:(
 
I only had one ap but the boiling water trick worked for me. I like this one the best because I can shoot em with boiling water all day and not have to worry about all the chems in my tank. [:-)
 
My only true 100% success method so far has been to use a insulin needle, very tiny, and mix a very watery kalk paste mix to put in the syringe. Then take your best shot at stabbing and injecting the kalk into it. I never had luck with any of the Joe's Juice type stuff simply because they tell you to put it on the aiptasias mouth, and it does burn them away to almost nothing, but they seem to always return. When I inject them I can see their insides filling white and so far on every one I have done it to they never came back.

I think the berghia nudibranch is almost a sure fire method as well, but you must keep passing them along to the next reefer once they do their job in your tank or they starve. Even though it is "just a slug" it does such a wonderful thing for hobbiest that I hate to see people get one for just their tanks and let them die after they do their job especially when so many people with saltwater tanks just in your area could probably use them as well.
 
Well from what i've read peppermint shrimp dont do anything other than trim and help the aiptasia spread, They leave particles that cause more aiptasia growth.. so the only ways I've seen that work are 1 the aiptasia remover or boiling water with syringe, or bergia nudribranchs, and burning them off! lol seriously.
