rinse new sand?

My tank is set up and I had fish but they died in a parasite wipe-out. I've let the tank sit empty for five weeks to kill the parasites off so I can try again.

In the meantime, I bought more sand! (Weird, eh?)

I plan to take my rock-work out of the tank, put in the new sand, and then re-build the rocks. When things have settled, I'll get a new fish to try again.

Question: do I have to rinse my new sand? I bought two 30-lb. bags of Aragonite sand from Big Als Online. It's pre-packaged stuff from Carib-Sea.

If its live sand, washing it really doesnt make it "live", you dont need to wash sand (some people prefer not to wash sand as the sediment helps with bacteria growth)

It isn't "live."

I just wasn't sure if you needed to wash "dead" sand since one isn't sure exactly where it came from.

But I won't wash it!
