Hi everyone. I am planning on buying a second tank this summer. I was hoping to get a 29/30 gallon tank, but a good quality one. I am also hoping not to spend more then 200$ :P

I did some looking around and found a nice 29 gallon aquarium by Aqueon. So my question is, is this a good quality tank? Anybody using one? Here is the link to it: http://www.petsuppliesfishstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=2&products_id=7

Thank you!

It looks good.... but it says all glass, so its gonna be pretty heavy.....

It's only a 29 gallon. It won't be that heavy. I have one that is all glass, and I have no problem moving it around when it's empty.

Thats expensive at my walmart there way cheaper cuz the 55gal kits at walmart are a lil under $200. I would check your local stores before online for kits.

That's true Wal Mart sells 55's for a little under 2 hundred.

If you want to spend that kind of money look at Tru Vu acrylic tanks. I have two large ones 40G and 60G and am switching out my glass ones as fast as I can. I feel safer about them not leaking and I can move them by myself. You just have to be careful about scratching them but the insulation factor way outweighs any inconvienience. My acrylics stay at a constant 74 with no heater while my glass one's temperatures flucuates during the day.

You might be able to locate something used but still in great shape for way less. The hood and filters on that are kind of junk so you'll be replacing that anyway.

If you're on the east coast, I strongly suggest checking out petland discounts. They generally beat everyone else's best tank prices by about 1/3.

As much as I hate petland discount (for fish), you can not beat their price on tanks, I have a 55, 2 75s and 10 10s drom them, never a problem. The lights and filters all mail order...
Good luck!!!

Agree with all above. That is too much to pay for an entry level setup.

Thanks a lot everyone :)

I've decided against the tank after reading all the comments.
I'm thinking now about buying the 100$ 30gallon at my local Walmart and just upgrading the lights and filter system. I was at big als the other day and say this thing: http://www.bigalsonline.com/StoreCatalog/ctl3684/cp18527/si1382190/cl1/marineland_eclipse_2?&query=marineland&queryType=0&hits=12&offset=
It would fit on my tank, and it looks pretty good. The price is high, but with the tank it equals 200$.

I have 3 Eclipse system (5g, 12g, 45g), and love them. Water is allways crystal clear. Easy to change, clean, filter plates, pump, and plumbing. Been running them for over 2 years now and really have no complaints.

Woohoo! That's great to hear! I'm really leaning towards it now :grinyes:

I purchased a eclipse 1 for a 15 gal high for mydaughter. The light did not work out of the box but I was able to fix it (the lamp was not in correctly). After that it is fine. I would recomend it.

Thought I'd go look at craigs list real quick...

IDK where you are. But here was one I just saw in a couple of seconds in NC.

Oceanic is quality stuff, too.

Better than a 2 for 1 price once you get all of your gravel, upgrade lights, etc.

Just trying to help.;)

The Eclipse hoods are great but you'll be limited in the plants you can grow. I've had an Eclipse 2 on a 20h for 4 years now with no problems. You also don't need to buy their filter cartridges. You can DIY easily.
The other nice thing about these hoods is, my cats can't access the tank (but they love to sit on the hood!)

Wow I can't get over the price they want for that. Even at Petco you can get a 55 for $199.

I have to say I have pros and cons on the Eclipse systems/ hoods. I have a Eclipse 3 for a betta, it is nice that it is all enclosed so toys, dirt and other animals don't fall into it. For me it seems under filtered and it is hard to find replacement parts to it except online in most cases. Sometimes you need a part like now. Also you are stuck with that filtration and there is no way to upgrade without getting rid of the whole system. Just my .02.

The eclipse is good if you want to keep it simple (or have a cat). I have seen better prices however. I bought my eclipse 3 online for something like $75.

Thanks again everyone!
I found a 37g aquarium worth $300 alone, with the eclipse hood and coming with a beautiful stand for $300 total! I might have to take up this offer :D
