Actually, you can use any porous rock in FW, and it will be colonized by the same types of bacteria as SW. The other flora and fauna, of course, are just for SW, though there are a variety of attractive aquatic FW algaes and plants that will grow on rock.
Yes, some nice java moss and some java ferns. Add some snails and shrimp and voila, live rock!!
