So here she is! I got her today!

She immediately began to excavate a cave underneath the driftwood. Such an awesome little beastie! I can't wait for babies.

Gorgeous cray! I wish I could have one, but they tear up plants :[

Yes, that is why I am using only cabomba, anacharis and guppy grass for her tank. That way she can have some stuff to shear and eat and play with but it won't break my heart, lol.

I am sure that you have read about their great escapes I just wanted to warn you again. Please Please Please(I can't stress this enough) tape up any opening in the top. I have watched mine in the past climb up the silicone seal in the corner of the tank and attempt an escape. They are excellent climbers and they are such nosy creatures they are great aquatic companions.

PS Beautiful Setup, she should love it.

Yes ma'am, I have! The lid is one of the screen lids used for hamsters, with a teeny tiny hole for the filter cord to go through. Part of the reason I chose to go with the internal filter was so that I could have it locked up tight. The lid has little sliding locks and fits very tightly.

Here is a picture. I covered the two circular holes with craft mesh and sewed it in place with fish line. The light sits on the screen part, it is a CFL so it does not get hot at all.

Awesome Job on the top! I just hate to see threads where ppl have lost loved pets to holes that they escape from.
What diet are you planning for her?

Ramshorn and pond snails, algae wafers, shrimp pellets, cucumbers and zucchini, as much of the cabomba and anacharis as she wants, lol, and of course snello. I am sure there will be a few other things thrown in, we will try different things and see what she likes.

Yeappers she should love you for that selection, mine also liked bloodworms and tubiflex worms. They seem to eat more protein when fixing to berry and carrying babies and then move back to more of a veggie based diet after babies are free swimmers. Wish you the best of luck with your new beauty.

how big is she?

About 4 inches, pretty good sized! She was a bit bigger than I had expected. It was a good thing they had her double bagged, she destroyed the inner one en route, lol.

Ha ha ha, hooked I am :) I want some of the dwarf crays, particularly the orange ones :D

Oh, and I AM the Fish Nazi - my mom and my husband came up with that one because every time they say, "can I have one of those?" I say "NO!!!"

With good reason, of course :D
