Hello Everyone!

I just setup my tank a few days ago, so I'm still a ways off from buying fish, but I need some help! I have a 36 Gallon Bowfront and I'm trying to decide what to stock my tank with so I can read up on them before purchase.

I love Angelfish (my parents raised them when I was young) and Flame Dwarf Gouramis.

Which of these would work better in this tank?

How many?

Could they go together?

What else should be stocked with them to balance out the tank?

I would really appreciate any info that could be shared! I want my fish to have the perfect home!

Post the tank dimensions. Length x Width(front to back) x Height

On the width. I'd say, measure the flat part on the end. We can guesstimate the bow from that.

Are plants in your plans?

My Angels and Gouramis have always been fine together. If I were you I'd get just 1 Angel, 3 or 4 Dwarf Gouramis and some kind of small Loaches or Cory Cats to go on the bottom.
And like JimL said-read up and cycle your tank 1st.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

Dimensions are 30" x 11" x 20" (width at widest is 15"). I do want a planted tank, just not sure where to start with that. Have plastic for now, but already not very happy with the look. I've looked at lighting, but I'm kinda confused as to what I need.

As far as cycling goes, I've read up about a month before I setup my tank. I want to get everything right! I'm only a couple days into fishless cycling, so I've got a ways to go. Just wanting to get an idea of what fish I want so I can scout out the best place to get them!

I'm just getting into plants myself.
Started playing around with a 30g (36" long) with a 96w pc and a 30w fl. With DIY CO2.
I'm done with it now. Going to be taken down soon.

The main tank I'm dealing with right now is a 55g.
It has a 130w pc fixture(2x65w) plus the 2 stock 15w fixtures, that are looked at like a sun rise/set thing. Hr before and after the pc.

I'm trying the K.I.S.S. thing with it.
Started with DIY CO2. But sense, been removed.
I am trying what I like to refer to as "snake oil"... Natural Aquarium Vital.

Not that I'm recommending it or anything. Just stating some facts. This is only my second week using it.
Plus using some Seachem ferts.
So far the tank is comming along fairly desent without spending the $$$ for a real CO2 set-up.

You can add plants while fishless cycling.
They would help it cycle faster, with the little bacteria they'd bring along.

People seem to like t5 lights alot. I might have went that route, but they had a good deal(sale) on these cfs. So I went with them.

You could probably go with somewhere around 60w. And grow just about anything you want.
