Basically as the title says, I'm thinking about getting a betta for a tank that has two dwarf gouramies in it. The dwarfs are one neon blue and one fire (orange with a bit of blue). Will this be a problem?
Maybe yes, maybe no. But most evidence (at least what I have read) points to the fact that they will not.

I have had dwarfs and bettas together without a problem in the past, but sometimes it depends on the fish's attitude. color can sometimes play a part as well and if it is brightly colored it may be more agressive against it than if it were drab colored

Thanks for the input I am still considering it. I know it's risky but I tihnk I might try it.

I've had bettas and dwarf gourami before... in fact I'm doing it now (it only works out with one of my bettas though). My honey gourami nips at one of my bettas fins horrible.
In the past, I've had 0 problems keeping them together.
Tank size and lots of plants will definately help.

I used to have a betta in with my dwarf flame gourami. They pretty much ignored each other. From what I have read, I doubt I would try it again. Like others have said, it probably just depends on fish personality and/or hiding spots.
If I tried it, I would have a small back-up tank to put the betta in case it was getting attacked.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences! That is what makes these forums so good, the vast amount of first hand knowledge and experiences.
I also heard from the breeder of the bettas(http://trillium.christopherlee.ca) and he said he has kept them together before as well. They have some extremely nice fish, check em out!
The tank is a 35 gallon and I will probably get a few more plants so there should be plenty of room.
