Hey gang. Strange happenings in my community tank. I have a group of 11 debauie cats that I've had for a month or so. They are usually front and center, all together in the tank. I did my regular water change during the day Monday. Tuesday I got home from work around 1 PM., and turn the light on in the tank. AND, no debauie cats ! None ! I finally found 1 hovering below the heater, but haven't seen any of the others. There are tons of places for them to hide, but I'm curious as to why they would all of a sudden go into hiding ? Anyone else had this experience ? Thanx.

Those cats are on my wish list. They just got some in at my lfs and they look so cool the way they swim around together.
Have any larger fish in the tank that could be picking on them or eating them?

Oh that's weird. With all the rain maybe the water was different than normal. We had nitrates of 25ppm recently & instead of doing happy water change dancing my fish looked bummed out. Didn't find out until the town water report came later. There had been earlier tank problems that seemed to coincide with treatment plant "issues".

Hope you find them safe & hiding in all your pleco caves. Could they have jumped?

The only bigger fish in the tank would be the 2 full size SAEs, and some of the plecos (L007b, L333s, L399s), but I don't think any of them would eat them. There are 2" plus each, and there are 11 of them. There are a lot of smaller fish in the tank that are not half as active. I didn't see any on the floor, and I hope I'm not so blind that I missed 10 of them !! All of the other fish seem fine. It's a mystery !!

Yes, they have taken up residence behind the mopani driftwood and under the big plant next to it. This was how they behaved when there was only 1 or 2 of them. I can't figure why they suddenly changed their habits, but at least they are there !
