My algae eaters do not touch the green stuff....only the brown
stuff.
What is the easiest and safest way to remove the green stuff
off of fake plants ?

When I get stuff in my intake tubes / air risers I just use a paper towel...
I would think it would work the same for fake plants...

soak it in a bleach solution, dont remember the bleach to water ratio though, maybe someone else will read this and reply

Or just blast them off under hot tap water....then soak them over night in a bucket of water with one bottle of hydrogen peroxide added. Safer than bleach and just as effective at killing algae. When finished, just rinse the plants off and return them to the tank. No treating with dechlorinators or water conditioners is neccessary.

Just curious... why is it important to get the algae off the fake plants? Are you worried that its going to make to tank more prone to algae blooms, or does it make to plants look bad? Not trying to be a smarta**... just ignorant!

Maybe his is just a personal opinion, but I think the alge make my fake plants look more natural. Now I'm talking about a little brown and a litte green alge, not green hair here.
I go to great lenghts not to get the small amount of alge off of mine.

Since your plants are fake it will be quite easy to clean of fhte algae.
- you can take them out and scrub the algae off iwth a toothbrush
- you can bleach them(i do this al the time withmy decorations). Just rinse well andi soak in declorinator(a couple times the recommended dose jsut to be safe). ANd add it back to the tank.I have never hada problem.
- you could soak in really hot water.

I put mine in the top rack in the dishwasher and put something heavy on top to keep them there. Air Dry Only
Don't laugh until you try it!

Be careful when using the dishwasher as soap residue can be left on the plants(or whatever you were cleaning).
