It figures.............. My modem went about a week and a half ago and I had to send it back for a replacement. Let me tell you all, I was dying :argh

And what's worse was that two of my fish were (and still are) having problems and I couldn't get on line to get any advice :sad

I missed you all.!!

First of all, one of my cories I believe has some kind of internal infection. It seems as though his whole body is red internally. Gills, head, there are two pinprick blood specks next to his front fins, and there seems to be a line of red going down it's spine back to the tail with a pinprick of blood in its body next to its tail.

I lost another cory a few months ago to this same mysterious disease and never found out what it was.

I do have him in a hospital tank and am dosing him with maracyn and maracyn 2 (tomorrow will be day 5 and I think that I'm going to go a full 10 days). The only thing different about this fish is that he is still eating, although he's looking a little drawn. I must say that before I moved him into the hospital tank, I used Jungle Labs Parasite Clear in the Community tank just in case it was parasitic, but I don't think that it is.

I also have a scissortail that looks as though it has some kind of fuzziness INSIDE its body. These fish are relatively see-through so I could tell that it looks different than the other scissortails. A white cloudy area above its spine and a little next to its tail. Not red like the cory. But he does not appear sick and is eating and swimming with the others. Any clues?

What size tank, what fish are in it? How often do you do water changes? Have you tested for pH, ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates?

It's usually best not to use medications until you know for sure what you are treating, although it is understandable that you wanted to do what you could if your internet was down and you had no one to ask. You might try looking at the Health and Diseases section on The Skeptical Aquarist (http://www.skepticalaquarist.com/) website. Otherwise, my first recommendation would be a 30% water change.

Tank size is a 20L.
Water Parameters: no ammonia, no nitrites, nitrates 20ppm (I test weekly).
Fish: Mainly tetras (scissortail, red eye, lemon)
2 Dwarf Gouramis
4 Cories (including the one in question)

I do water changes with a vacuum (20 to 25%) about every 2 weeks.

I had a thread going when the first cory was sick. I don't know how to paste that thread into this one. This cory was very close to the other and I was afraid that whatever that last one had, this one would get, but it didn't (at least for a few months). I don't understand why it took all this time for the disease to manifest in this cory. I thought, as well as many who read the original post, that it was gill disease, or parasitic.

I did treat the last cory with maracyn and maracyn 2, but not the 2 medications together (which is recommended) if you don't know if the bacteria is gram + or gram -, and not for a full 10 days. I did call mardel to get specifics on treatment.

I figure if I don't try something, he will die anyway.

As far as the scissortail, I have not started any treatment at all or moved him to any hospital tank. He is acting and eating normally.
