As alot of you may know, I got 10 long fin gbr's here a week or so ago (Thanks again Elly!).. well I found a guy on aquabid that's selling these as well.. so I'm going to order up another 10 from there and try to get pairs from each strain together.. this will kind of be a "breeding project" the thing is, I'm certainly not planning to keep 10 pairs haha perhaps i will try to keep 3.. we'll see.

I'm just wondering how many people might be interested in purchasing a pair one they pair up..

I'm thinking when all is said and done I'll need to have about $20 a pair figuring in time, food, and cost of course! =)

Thinking it'll be around a month, maybe sooner.. I have 4-5 that are really coloring up nice..

I'll post some pics tonight after work =)

No one? Well that's good to know =) Here's those pics tho.. this is when I first got 'em so they aren't very colorful yet.. this is the first batch btw.. the new ones should be here next week =)
This is day #1 hardly any color at all!

It's been pretty awesome watching them change colors almost daily, I look in the tank and they already look different than these last ones =)

On another note, it was brought to my attention that $20 seemed like alot for a pair of long fin GBR's and maybe they're right, that's why I was gauging interest! =)

For a sexed pair that price may be high, but for proven pairs they go for $40 at a minimum. I've seen them many times at that price and sold them as well at that price. If you are looking for a pair and don't want to spend a lot of money you should purchase a group of 6-8 with half of each sex and wait until you get a pair. Most likely you will get all of them to pair up and you can sell the rest and end up with a free pair for yourself or even make some money on it.

Keep in mind that you get what you pay for too. A LFS near me sells Asian bred blue rams for $12.99 each so a "pair" would be $26+. What many people don't know is that the Asians are nearly always sterile from the growth hormones that they are treated with. Also keep in mind that long finned pairs can command a higher price than regular finned rams. The $40/proven pair was based on regular finned pairs. Long finned would most likely go for $50+ per proven pair. That may seem like a lot of money to you but if they are proven then you have a good chance of getting viable offspring. Rams that I sell go for $6-8 each and average spawn sizes are 90+. So that $50 pair can make $500 plus in no time.

I'd love to get some, but I don't have any intention of breeding them, so it'd probably make more sense to wait until you have some of their offspring for sale (especially since I don't have the cash for 'em yet anyways).

bump for some great fish!

I might be interested if you can ship to Canada.

Well, who knows.. the ones I have are pretty young.. not sexable (to me at least) maybe I will end up with some oddball extras! I've heard that you can't have more than a pair.. like trios or anything like that because the same-sex of the pair will kill it off, so if I have any that don't pair up those will go real cheap =)

I would love to do a trade' for a pair . Pm me with any interest , I am posting a sale thread now, still have to get my pics in order, that will probally be monday .....

Cool, I'd definitely be interested if you do end up with any oddballs. :)
