What do most folks use in their bubble counters?
I read somewhere that pure glycerine is good because
it’s viscosity is thick enough to make bubble counting easier.
Is this safe??
Thank you
Charles

water evaporates too fast for my liking. I use mineral oil as many others here do.

There is no harm in using mineral oil even if it gets into the tank. Its not very tasty, so the fish wont ingest it, even if they did, its a laxative. Cleaning out the ol pipes once in a while cant hurt. lol

Kurtis is correct, mineral oil is safe for human consumption as a laxative, you can buy it at any drugstore. There really is no chance of it getting into the tank anyway. I have heard of vegetable glycerin being used, but it is organic so I would worry about mold or decomposition. You can buy a lifetime supply of mineral oil for 5 dollars at any drug store and it works great and doesn't evaporate.

Never used anything but tap water since day one. It is not a huge deal to have to refill it once or twice a year.

What do you do with the oil?
