Then the male chased away the female for about a week and a half and then they paired up again. I don't understand them and was really hoping for some Midas babies. They may lay eggs again soon and I've heard that Midas Cichlids may be bad parents the first few or several tries they lay eggs. I really need some help hear. Oh, can somebody also tell me if I could possibly get different colored Midas. That would be awesome if I could.

Any new pair of cichlids usually needs a few times to sort out what they're doing regarding caring for the eggs, they usually improve with practice. They will spawn again in a matter of weeks, and will most likely continue for at least 3-4 more broods before taking a break. It's not uncommon for even a more experienced pair to eat their fry if they're preparing to spawn again, so if you you want to raise some fry it's best to siphon them out or place a divider in the tank about 7-10 days after they're free-swimming. Alternatively, you can move the parents to another tank, but that may break the pair-bond if it isn't well enough established between them.
