48 long by 21 tall by 12.5 deep?

I don't know how to do the volume calculation... :/
 
i believe those are the specs to my 55. so it's probably a 55.
 
54.62 to be exact, but marketed as a 55.

Thanks everyone. I just bought it today from a guy of craigslist.

What should I use to clean it? Just hot water?? Soak overight maybe or?


He was using it as his main tank but upgraded to a larger tank.


It looks like it was maybe emptied like a month ago?


Do I need to clean with bleach? That seems kinda harsh to me but thats what some have reccommended to me.
 
i wouldn't suggest using bleach, but if you do, make sure you dilute it very well and let the tank sit in the sun for a day or two after you clean with bleach to dry it all out completely and remove the bleach leftover. i'd just use warm water, a scrub brush/toothbrush, and vinegar with a razor blade if the water doesn't work. with vinegar, just rinse well and you'll be fine. make sure you test it for leaks, just to make sure.
 
I am testing it and it seems to be leak free. The only thing is - I think I filled it up way too high (way past the black line edging of the tank) and it seemed that if I filled it to the point of almost overflowing that it was dripping a little h20 from one of the sides of the edging.

I emptied about a pitcher full of h20 from the tank (still way above the black line but not to the brim of the actual tank like I had it), and now it's fine...

should I be concerned? I'm never going to have the tank that full so hopefully I don't have to worry about it??
