xp3 impeller

It started making a loud humming noise. I removed the impeller and the rod that goes through was loose. I pushed the rod into the motor housing and put it all back together. The motor was quiet like the 3 other XP3's I have but within an hour the humming noise returned. I am hoping a new impeller will solve the problem. Thanks for asking

It wont, I know because I have had to replace those shafts and they are all the same. First you need to pull the impeller off and shaft out and inspect the shaft for gouges and the impeller magnet tiny hole that it is round not oblong and sits on the shaft with no slop. If all is well, no slop, no gouges, then inspect the tiny hole the shaft sits in to make sure its intact not broken by comparing it with one of your other XP3. If all looks well normally the shaft can be tapped in with a tiny hammer to the depth of your other XP3 shafts (compare). If it does not want to stay in tight and pulls out easily, you will have to dry the pump out and use a drop of super glue on the end of the shaft so that when you tap it in to the proper depth, it will stay put. If on the other hand you see shaft gouges you will need to replace both the shaft and the impeller magnet as a unit or you will have premature ware as the old will ware out the new fast.
