I have 5 balloon mollies/5 tetra/2 albino cories and 2 julii cories in a 10 gallon right now (the molly just had babies I originally only had one).
I just bought a 55 gallon.
I plan to get more neon tetras but am interested in getting another type of fish. I know all the fish I have right now are REALLY peaceful, can anyone suggest some more peaceful fish?
I was thinking maybe glo fish (I know they are just zebra's but I like the colors).
I would like some more color in my tank, suggestions are welcome. Also- how many more neon tetra's would you all recommend to get?
A 55g should be able to fit 20 neon tetras. Add 6-8 glofish and then 4 cories of each species.

Rainbows are colorful! Never kept them but I'm sure others can give more advice!

Pearl Gouramis are really peace full. I have three in my tank and they are beautiful but be fussy when you buy!!
Good luck

... how many more neon tetra's would you all recommend to get?
I'd always heard the 6-8 is good because they like to school. So I've always had 6-8. But couldn't see much to call schooling, and usually hiding.
While at the LFS looking for more flame tetras(they didn't have any) to go with the two I already had. I mentioned to the guy working there, that neons were a favorite. But I was affraid they'd just hide like they always had. He told me about how he had 25 in his 55g, and they were always cruising around. I says... "gimmie 25 neons". lol
They hang out, for the most part, together and wander around from one end to the other.
SEE... lol

I'm not one to go quarantining fish. Not that I'm against it or recommend, not doing it. But I've usually had one tank at a time. So I just dump them in.
I ended up loosing 4. Which sounds rather typical for these fish, quarantine or not.

The blurrs, top center. Are 8 Harleys (Harlequin Rasboras).
They cruise together and faster.

praecox rainbows are one of the smaller rainbows and have real good color...
*Not my pic* much better.

6 of those would be good.
You'll be surprised how easy those rainbows breed. I can guarantee you a heavily planted tank with only dwarf neon rainbows can get you lots of babies after a few months.;)

Really?! Cool!
Sounds Perfect for her! :thm:
It did happen to me. I observed them spawning almost daily but I just cannot guarantee a portion alive as the other fish quickly consume them as soon as they fall to the ground. I had several corydoras, kuhlis and tetras at that time. I did have a lone baby rainbow survived but I was not prepared for it and it died overnight.:( Goes to show how much the unexpected happen when you don't expect it to happen.lol
Just as a quick note, males have the red edges on their fins. Females have orange or yellow edges. That's very distinctive.

Ohh the praecox rainbows is a really pretty fish... this is what I was thinking of getting so far:
55 GALLON
In progress. =)
2 pearl gouramis
8 glo fish
8 cherry barbs (or possibly 6 praecox rainbows)... can't decide now!
15 neons
8 albino corys (or possibly 6 albinos, and 2 julii's since I already have the julii's)
5 balloon mollys
thoughts/idea/suggestions/opinions?

You can add the praecox to your list without erasing the cherry barbs. It looks good. Post pics of the tank once it is complete!
